If you are one of them out there who are trying to quit smoking then I’m sure you will be feeling it like a very lengthy process. It can take a very long period of like several years or maybe you can do it just within few weeks. The exact time frame or the possibilities of time frame under which you can accomplish your goal vary from person to person. Whatever the time frame is, it’s good to see you are coming up with your plan to achieve the goal and to combat your urges which are keeping of coming into your mind for smoking. At some point you might get encounter with the situations where you can’t combat with your urges as they are a bit stronger than your goals – sometimes. But you have to combat with those urge but before that you have to prepare yourself for the urges which can possibly de track you from the plan. 1. You know exactly the timings of your smoking right? Like as after a jog, or even after meals mostly, around the block may be or even after taking shower each morning. So basically you know that at what time you use to smoke mostly, just try to make a plan of combating the urges at those timings, you have to be mentally prepared for it.
2. You have to make some plan for the attack. There are plenty of ways you can keep up yourself or your mouth busy to let yourself not to think about smoking in any possible way. You can just simply use some stress ball for your hands; you can just use a piece of a hard candy to keep your mouth a bit busy. If you are really want to enjoy the taste and want to feel fresh breath why not brush your teeth each time when you want to smoke?, or you can use a minty chewing gum to freshen your breath.
3. You can avoid the temptations that lurks, yes of course why not choose no smoking area when you are out for a lunch or dinner? You can avoid going to tobacco stores and you can avoid the amount of time you use to spend around other smokers. If think if you are continuously keep yourself around cigarettes then it will be much harder to resist temptations.
4. If you want to control your urges to smoke then I would suggest you to clean your house immediately for all smoking material and instruments you already have. It means you have to remove ashtrays, matches, lighters and get rid of smell. You can also use products like Febreeze which are great for helping to get rid of cigarette’s smell and which are help you tiger your urges to smoke.
5. You might be smoking on a place typically for smoke when you are at home, why not rearranging that particular area where you use to smoke daily? So this is help you break the routine of smoking, you can then resist the temptations. It will work best if you always use to smoke at the same place which you just have rearranged. Places like living room. Near the windows etc, you can also change the area of chair which you use to smoke daily. That can avoid the temptations too.
6. You can write down the goals you set up for quitting smoking forever. This might seems like a minor detail but in fact it can help you a lot in reality, it can keep you motivated on stop smoking and keep your priority of quitting smoking at the top of your agenda. If you are having some key points written on a piece of paper and goals which you want to achieve, I’m sure after seeing it every day or anytime you will get charged on getting your goals and will actually follow it. You can use this for not only stop smoking but also for losing your weight, changing your routine or anything else.
7. At last but not the least, do not discount yourself on smoking. If you are sure that you can succeed on what your goals are or what you have decided for, you will be much more capable of the success which you need. It is very important for you to believe that you can succeed actually; this will help you stay yourself away from the urges kicking in for smoking. You might be able to get slip up, but it will be much harder for you to get back any slack that you have cut for yourself earlier. However, if you are holding fast for your dedications to quit smoking, I’m sure you will be finding it each time you have urge in your mind to smoke and it will be easier for you to handle then.
